New Honeywell Designed Request Form
Honeywell Request Form

PJ Through his work at Honeywell got the company to produce 900 request forms. At the same time they came up with the design for the logo which has remained to this day.

Whilst the New years program was being broadcast the library was changed around. This was the first substantial change since the launch of the station. The library rack which was an "L" shape, and difficult to extract the records was changed into a continuous rack. All Change At the Studio's

A new ward opened in January this year; ward 10:one problem for the radio the bed-head units were broadcasting the hospital radio on channel 6.

In March this year; the partridge mixer was moved into the new room (Studio 1).All Change At the Studio's

A new style request form, was printed for the radio by Honeywell who also designed'-the Radio Heatherwood Logo that is used Today. The fete this year was opened by Euro HP Baroness Ellis.

A fortnightly program on Thursday nights called Heatherwood beat, was broadcast. A member of the local constabulary would come and answer questions from patients .

This year will always be remembered by our librarian. A presenter on a Friday night; had over a period of six months pinched over three hundred records, it took a lot of detective work not least of which after every broadcast, each night at 10:30: David would return to the studio to check every single record to see if it was still there. A record would be put in the library from the chart; by the following week it had gone. The culprit was caught red handed with over twenty records, in his bag. We managed to get a few records back ,but some were lost for ever. This individual also made it embarrassing for the station because his mother was a nurse on the wards. He did try to return to the station some years later, but was thwarted by our memories of his name.

In Sept the first fund raising disco was held in the social hall.

The studio had increased by size but a request for another space at the hospital was requested.

At the end of the year a special 12hr Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, program was broadcast by the Saturday crew.

Radio Magazines Issue 5

The radio magazines were given freely to patients to promote the work of the radio station and the leagues trolley shop.

Issue 5 contained twenty eight pages with information about the hospital and how the radio service was set-up. It also had a request for feedback from Grace Browning Wednesdays, stories about the hospital's diamond jubilee and the story of the diamond jubilee fete, in addition another story from Tim Kingcott Fridays.

A page of thank you letters from former patients was also included. The booklet also carried an article about the trolley shop. The booklet also carried pictures and an article about the Thames valley road safety quiz.

Chairman Ron Mason welcomed readers to this new edition.

So You Want To Be A Radio Star

Radio Heatherwood's Saturday crew is looking for help with their Christmas and New Year programmes on Christmas eve and New years eve, it is intended to broadcast from 12 midday until 12 midnight on both days, you can help in the following way:-The regular Saturday children's show from ward 2, always features staff answering a few questions about themselves plus introducing some of their own favourite records, what we would like to do. is extend this to all hospital staff for some special dedication programmes over the two days, perhaps you can share an experience that you've had this past year or maybe just tell a joke, or simply say a get well message from yourself, We shall record the interviews to be played and you can have a copy if you wish.

Last year we did this for our new years day breakfast show and the staff who took part were most warmly received by the patients who tuned in that morning.

If you wish to take part and can spare twenty minutes of your time one Saturday between now and the 17th of December contact your Saturday crew on Radio Heatherwood:-Phone no's Ascot 25818 (evenings leave a message any night or phone the D J's at home:-
