Radio Heatherwood has received the best Christmas present ever. Radio
Heatherwood is the proud recipient of a further funding of £4000 towards
it's 24 hour service( Rhapsody ).
Ascot Fire Brigade Trust have agreed to fund the final sum. Radio
staff will now be working extra hours to implement the service. It's
envisaged the move towards 24 hour will commence in April next year and
will be fully running by the radio's 27th birthday in June.
Radio Heatherwood thanks both sponsors of the 24 hour service Ascot Fire
Brigade Trust & Sunninghill Fuel Allotment Trust, for their foresight in
recognizing the potential and benefit this will have for many patients in
the years to come.

Radio Heatherwood has just received a cheque for £500 from the Ascot Ale
Festival Committee. Nominated with a number of other local charities. The
radio station's Tuesday team leader Roger Hawkes accepted the cheque on
behalf of the station at a ceremony held last night. The money will be used
to fund next years PPL licence.
Radio Heatherwood is very grateful to the ale festival committee for
supporting the work which is carried out by the radio volunteers.
Radio Heatherwood's plans to move to a 24 hour broadcasting service moved a
step nearer today when the station received confirmation of a donation of
£5000 towards the overall cost.
Radio Heatherwood need to raise £9000 to proceed with the project.
Station Secretary P J Davidson-Smith couldn't conceal his happiness today.
" It's a splendid surprise and will ensure the patients in the near future
will have a listening experience which is totally geared towards their
locale and listening tastes. There is still further funds to be obtained
but now the mountain doesn't seem so high".
The radio staff have named the new computer service Rhapsody. Back to Top
Radio Heatherwood will this week issue a new style mug for patients who
make requests. Since 1993 the radio service and the league of friends have
distributed specially designed mugs to winners of nightly competitions on
the radio.
The new style mug celebrates the twenty fifth birthday of the radio station
and also carries the web address for the radio service.
Radio Heatherwood played hosts today to the Victoria Hall Trust. Members
were treated to an informative tour and presentation on the work of the
Volunteers. Mr John Green Chairman of the trust thanked Radio Heatherwood
on behalf of all patients for the work carried out by the volunteers.
In support of the radio service Ascot Bracknell & Crowthorne Rotary Clubs
have donated £425 to the station. Prompted by the hardship placed upon the
station by recent PPL levies. Local Rotary clubs have generously given it's
support. The radio station sends a heartfelt thanks on behalf of all
patients of Heatherwood.
Radio Heatherwood has today received a donation of £225
from the Victoria hall Trust.
The Trust has been a regular sponsor of our Radio Authority licence and
over the last 12 years have ensured our radio service continues to
broadcast.
We thank them for their continued support & generosity!.
Radio Heatherwood has received confirmation this week
it's to be charged for playing records & CD's. Along with other inductive
loop radio services the radio station will now have to find £488
Phonographic Performance Ltd ( PPL ) licence a year plus the already
subscribed Radio Authority licence of £225.
The station must now find £713 per year before it can even play a record.
This is devastating news for the station as their was no warning of this
charge. PPL who licence broadcasting of sound recordings has decided the
exemption for charitable groups can no longer apply.
The station received a nice surprise from former
presenter Bruce Crosland and his wife Sue. A cheque of £50 for more loan
radio's means we are able to raise the total on the wards to 289.
Bruce says thanks to his friends and colleagues and is now settled in his
new home in Devon.
