Happy Birthday Radio Heatherwood

June 10th 2009

Today marks the official 33rd birthday for the radio service.  A lot of water under that bridge over the years a number of changes, too numerous to mention, and a lot of good people passed through our doors.

These are difficult times for the radio service with worries about ward closures, hospital changing, recruitment, funding etc, These might be the current issues for the radio but over the years the radio has had to deal with lots of hurdles.

The testimony to the radio service is patients and staff still appreciate the service and no matter what we have to overcome, Radio Heatherwood will always be the patients choice.

The league of friends and all it's volunteers thanks all those past and present who continue to help Radio Heatherwood remain the voice of Heatherwood.

Rhapsody Promotes Awareness of Macmillan Nurses

May 2009

Radio Heatherwood is pleased to promote the work of Macmillan Nurses.

The national campaign by Macmillan cancer support aims to increase awareness of Macmillan as an organization and to let people who need help, know how they can get support.

The first phase of the UK-wide campaign (running from 1 October – 30 November 2008) resulted in over 7,000 people affected by cancer Macmillan for support. 69% of these callers had never been in touch with Macmillan before.

To continue to raise awareness of who Macmillan are and how they can help and to encourage even more people to use their services, they are re-running the campaign using national print and broadcast media until the end of June 2009.

Radio Heatherwood's rhapsody service, will be carrying the promotions throughout it's 24 hour service.
