Volunteer Recruitment

January 2013

In late 2009 the league of friends radio service was advised that the building which it occupied would be part of the site which was no longer required in addition as the hospital made cuts to services, the radio service decided to suspend all recruitment of volunteers until a firm decision as to what service or facilities would be available.

The league has reviewed it's position on new volunteers and cannot see any change from it's earlier decision.

Volunteer recruitment is still suspended until further notice.

Goodbye Bedhead Radio System

March 2013

The radio service provided by the bedhead system becomes faulty during March.

The impending closure of ward 8 by the trust seals the fate of the bedhead services as no attempt is made to effect a repair.

The radio volunteers are left with a station without an audience.

All live sessions are suspended, Rhapsody the automated music service provides a 24 hour service which can still be received via the old stethoscope system in the emi unit and also can be heard on the Wi-fi service to ward 10.

Rhapsody Wi-fi Trial

April 2013

The rhapsody wi-fi trial produces the results of the first four months of the service.

The wi-fi service goes from strength to strength attracting more users.

Patients luckily enough to be in ward 4 elective orthopaedic surgery have access to the wi-fi music service and their email and internet services.

Presenters on Mondays and Saturdays visit the ward to make patients aware of the service and also help them to log in into the rhapsody wi-fi.
