Ascot Durning Library

This state-of-the-art library – housed on the ground floor of the Ascot pavilion in the racecourse buildings and twice the size of the current premises in Winkfield Road - boasts a host of improved “home comforts” including free books and information:

 

bullet

a self-service facility for customers to issue and return their own books, DVDs, talking books, newspapers, magazines and PlayStation games.

bullet

seven new computers with free internet access and word processing.

bullet

level access.

bullet

customer toilet equipped for wheelchair users and with baby changing facilities (to be installed shortly).

bullet

additional electronic reference resources including the online Oxford English Dictionary and the catalogue of borough library stock.

bullet

a community meeting room to be shared with the racecourse.

bullet

a scrolling visual display highlighting services and providing local information.

 

The library shares its new home with Sunninghill and Ascot Parish Council offices and the Royal borough’s First-Stop Shop.  On non-race days free car parking will be available to library users in the opposite Car Park 3.

“This is a very exciting move for the Ascot Durning Library, bringing it right in to the heart of community life in the High Street and making its wide range of services and facilities more easily accessible to many more people”.

“There’s much more on offer in the new library. With borrowers able to take out up to 12 books or magazines and 12 CDs, DVDs or talking books, there really is something for every member of the family.”

The new library will open on Monday and Tuesday 10am - 1pm and 2 – 5pm.
Thursday 10am - 1pm and 2 – 7pm.
Saturday 10am – 1pm.
(Closed on Wednesday and Friday.)
