Tuning Into Radio Heatherwood It’s Easy !

Above most beds in the hospital is a bedhead terminal provided by hospicom. A stereo selection of four radio services is available including Radio Heatherwood.

Terminal Above Your Bed

To use your terminal above the bed you must first switch it on. A rocker type/push power switch is located at the bottom right (underneath), as you look at the terminal. Once switched on, it may take a few minutes before you see the front screen image below.

This is basically a computer which needs to initialize before you can use it.

Follow The Easy Steps To Tune Your Terminal In:-

On the listen to radio screen, it's informing you that a pair of headphones will be required to listen to the radio.

If you do not have a set plugged in from below the screen, you will not be able to listen to any radio services.

Spare headsets are available from the nursing staff, Radio Heatherwood or the terminal reps.

Once you have selected continue, it will launch into a new screen showing the four radio services available. Be aware, sometimes it may not be required to carry out step three, as once the page has loaded it will automatically deliver Radio Heatherwood as your desired radio service.

If your volume is too loud or too soft you can adjust the volume by carrying out step 4 above.


Do I Have To Pay To Listen To Radio Heatherwood ?

Listening To Radio Heatherwood Is Free, The Terminal Does Not Require A Card In The Machine. Those Who Have Cards Are Not Charged To Listen.

What Can I Expect To Hear On The Hospital Radio Station ?

Radio Heatherwood plays music from the 1940’s right up to the Hospicom Pagepresent day as well as comedy three times a day, and spoken word including poetry and short stories. We also play the classics. At 11pm and 1am most nights, we have our meditation sessions for those having trouble relaxing.

During our live sessions, we play the patients choice of requests and dedications as well as bringing you local news and information especially for patients in hospital. In addition we take requests and dedications from members of the hospital staff.

If My Bedhead Terminal Has A Problem Can You Help ?

The League of Friends or it's representatives are not responsible for any aspect of your terminal. We only deliver the radio signal, all problems with your terminal should be highlighted to the rep who visits the wards daily, or you can call the help line number on your terminal.

Rhapsody

In April 2003 The first transmissions of the Rhapsody service commenced and by June 2003 the radio station is delivering music news and information 24 hours a day.

New Program Service Day and Night

Radio Heatherwood looks to the future, after 30 years delivering the patients choice the station in June 2006 launched a new station id and program service. The day time service will reflect an up tempo style from the night service. The new night time service will run from 10.30 each evening till 6.30am. The rhapsody service which provides the 24 hour service has been the most significant change to the station in recent years and has been well received by the patients and staff.
